Bernard Lamotte continually returned to Paris for his preferred subject matter, distilling with his brush the fleeting moments of everyday life in the quartiers, parks, and cafés of his beloved City of Light. He also ventured beyond the capital’s borders, and in Vacanses the artist used his characteristic bold brushwork to render a couple enjoying a day sailing along a river, their charming terrier joining in on the vacation fun.

Excellent. The painting was recently cleaned and has only minor in-paint, mostly near the edges and under the frame lip. This in-paint was done to blend transitions from the artist’s reworking parts of the composition.
