Description
Drawing on subjects found only a stone’s throw from his studio door, Jacob Greenleaf’s work often featured fishing vessels moored along the waterfront as well as views of the charming colonial architecture and winding streets of Rockport. He also ventured to nearby Gloucester for inspiration, as evidenced by Squam River from Andrews Bridge, a sweeping depiction of the Annisquam River looking northeast towards Annisquam Light. The A. Piatt Andrews Bridge, which carries Route 128 into Gloucester, was constructed in 1950, thus the painting likely dates soon after its completion
