William Baxter Closson (1848-1926)
W.B. Closson first exhibited his work at Vose Galleries in 1919, a group of twenty-five canvases which the Boston Post in October called “by far the best he has ever done.” Closson was a very talented impressionist, an expert of composition and color. The Closson Memorial Exhibition was first held at Vose Galleries in May 1927. Since then his work has been greeted with a renewed and enthusiastic reception.
