Aiden Lassell Ripley was a celebrated American watercolorist best known for his vivid sporting scenes featuring game birds and hunters in natural settings. Originally trained in illustration and painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, he won the prestigious Paige Traveling Scholarship and developed his watercolor technique while traveling through Europe. His work was widely exhibited and collected, earning praise in Life magazine and commissions from prominent families, as well as public mural projects during the Great Depression. Very good. The negative space of the image has very mild toning due to the paperboard’s age and natural acidity, but the artist’s pigments appear strong, with no significant fading.
