Description
Alexander Charles Robinson maintained his European ties through memberships with the Sociètè Nationale des Aquarellistes and the United Arts Club in London, among others, and traveled often to Belgium and to Venice, where the tempera paintings Santa Maria della Salute from Giudecca Island was done in 1907. In October 1911, the Detroit Museum of Art held an exhibition of over fifty paintings by Robinson; two paintings of Santa Maria della Salute were listed in the catalogue but further research is needed to determine if this example was one of those shown.

Very good. The paper was removed from the old acidic board in 2014, and the painting is stable. It was reframed by the purchaser in 2014.
