Ralph W. Gray (1880-1944)

Ralph W. Gray (1880-1944)

Ralph Gray, a Boston native, was best known for his vibrant, expressive landscapes. He was by trade an architect and a watercolorist, having studied at both Harvard University and the École des Beax-Arts in Paris. Gray painted often on Cape Cod, particularly during fruit-picking season at the cranberry bogs. A watercolor of this series, titled Cranberry Bogs: Bright Weather, is held in the permanent collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
