Sand Dunes
Signed lower left: M. Woodward
Description
While Sand Dunes is not specifically located, the essence of summertime warmth it exudes is relatable to any visitor to the popular artists’ colonies at Ogunquit, Maine, or Provincetown, Massachusetts. The painting is wonderfully rendered with Mabel May Woodward’s lively brushwork and appealing palette, capturing the feel of salty air as coastal grasses gently bend with the ocean breeze.

Condition
Very good. The painting was recently cleaned, and the paperboard support was pressed with heat to address slight concavity. Minor delamination of the canvas along the edges of the board was addressed/re-adhered with poly vinyl acetate. There are scattered specks and thin dashes of in-paint in the sky, a cluster of short thin lines of in-paint in the lower left foreground and a few specks lower right, and a couple of thin lines and some specks in the center-right sand.
