Edge of Day
Signed lower left: Haywood-Sullivan
Description
Vose Galleries has proudly held solo shows of Liz Haywood-Sullivan’s work in 2007, 2011, and 2019, and opened a fourth solo exhibition demonstrating her sensitivity to the seasonal rhythms of the natural world in the summer of 2021. Edge of Day was included in our most recent exhibit and inspired the following from the artist: “One of my few workshops, before travel ceased in 2020, was to New York City. I love taking the train from Boston to NYC and always try to snag a window seat on the Long Island Sound side. As we fly along my camera clicks the entire way and my sketchbook gathers notes about the glimpses of light, water, trees, marshes that inspire me. This is the second painting of this stunning cloud formation. The first composition was square and focused on the cloud reflections in the water, whereas this painting is more about the sky and moving your eye around the shapes in the land up into the clouds.”
