Today Pearson is best known for paintings featuring women playing musical instruments in elegant, light-filled interiors as well as for her delightful floral arrangements, such as Still Life – Larkspur. Her careful attention to rendering the variable shapes, textures, and colors in the composition demonstrates her genuine respect for the Boston School tradition, while the inclusion of the porcelain figurine alludes to the popularity of Asian objets d’art found in many fashionable New England homes and, astutely, in the studios of the artists whose works they collected.
