Exhibition: A Visual Feast

Exhibition Information

On exhibition April 19, 2022 - May 31, 2022

A Visual Feast celebrates Janet Monafo, whose sense of color and spontaneity in composition places her among today’s leading pastel artists. This free art exhibition features more than fifteen important examples by the artist that have never been presented by Vose Galleries before now.

During her more than forty year career, esteemed Boston-area artist Janet Monafo has merged her interests in color, form, and texture through monumental still life and figural paintings. Her works have been exhibited at many prestigious venues, including the National Academy of Design, the Delaware Art Museum, and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. Moreover, in 2002, Monafo was bestowed the Hall of Fame status through the Pastel Society of America, an honor held by other renowned artists such as William Merritt Chase and Mary Cassatt. Public collections such as the Tia Collection in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Evansville Museum in Evansville, Indiana, include her paintings in their permanent holdings. A Visual Feast highlights Monafo’s singular artistic practice, presenting nearly twenty examples that glow with the decadent colors and epicurean subject matter for which she is so well known.
