"Walking down the street, my eye was caught by the traffic lights casting fascinating reflections on the damp sidewalk. These paintings are all about editing - taking out cars, people, signs and building details to focus on what sparked my interest. And focusing only on what I wanted to show you. I am fascinated by soft amorphic shapes juxtaposed against the hard edges of man-made architecture. Steam, like painting clouds, offers many challenges in its lost and found edges and translucencies."

Vose Galleries is proud to have had solo shows of Liz Haywood-Sullivan's work in 2007 and 2011, and in the fall of 2019 opened a third solo exhibition featuring thirty works demonstrating her sensitivity to the seasonal rhythms of the natural world. Mesmerized was included in this recent exhibit, Dancing Light: Changing Seasons.
