Denman Waldo Ross is best known for his portraits and landscapes, many of which depict foreign scenes inspired by his wide-ranging travels to France, Spain, Italy, Egypt, and Mexico, among other places. He also explored and painted sites closer to home, including Martha’s Vineyard and towns along Cape Cod, as well as York, Maine.
