"Since joining the gallery, I have viewed hundreds of exemplary paintings that would make valuable additions to any collection of American art. Many of those works have taken my breath away; however, Dawn, Nettleton Hollow was the first one to do so. I was initially drawn to the scene because it reminded me of the sunrises over frost-covered pastures that I have witnessed at my family’s horse farm in Virginia. Indeed, the scene is so reminiscent of the farm that I was momentarily convinced that Peter Poskas must have visited at some point before starting the piece! In actuality, Poskas has not been to my family’s farm, and Dawn, Nettleton Hollow depicts the luminous landscape of Nettleton Hollow, Connecticut. For me, this fact does not detract from the painting’s significance. Rather, it speaks to Poskas’ unparalleled ability to capture the purity of a rural winter sunrise, whether it be in the Northeast or the Mid-Atlantic." - Cecilia Christman, Sales & Marketing Associate
